Models for Evaluating and Planning City Logistics Systems
نویسندگان
چکیده
City Logistics aims to reduce the nuisances associated to freight transportation in urban areas while supporting the economic and social development of the cities. The fundamental idea is to view individual stakeholders and decisions as components of an integrated logistics system. This implies the coordination of shippers, carriers, and movements as well as the consolidation of loads of several customers and carriers into the same environment-friendly vehicles. City Logistics explicitly aims to optimize such advanced urban transportation systems. We focus on a challenging City Logistics planning issue, the integrated short-term scheduling of operations and management of resources, for the general case involving a two-tier distribution structure. We investigate the main issues related to the problem, introduce a new problem class, propose both a general model and formulations for the main system components, and identify promising solution avenues.

Sustainable supply chain management in city logistics solutions: an experience’s comeback from Cityporto Padua (Italy)
The sustainable logistics and transportation studies constitute a primordial research axis in the enterprises’ governance. In the last years, many reflections and developments in logistics research have studied the economic and the environmental questions related to supply chain management, but only few of them consider sustainability in its totality. Moreover, in practice, city logistics syste...
متن کاملService network design models for two-tier city logistics
This paper focuses on two-tier City Logistics systems for advanced management of urban freight activities and, in particular, on the first layer of such systems where freight is moved from distributions centers on the outskirts of the city to satellite platforms’ by urban vehicles, from where it will be distributed to customers by other, dedicated vehicles. We address the issue of planning the ...

The US Army faces a significant burden in planning sustainment operations. Currently, logistics planners must manually evaluate potential emplacement sites to determine their terrain suitability. Sites subject to rainfall-runoff responses such as flooding are ill-suited for emplacements, but evaluating the likelihood of such responses requires significant time and expertise. To reduce the time ...
متن کاملA two-stage mathematical model for evacuation planning and relief logistics in a response phase
Crises and natural disasters are always existed in human history, and continue to exist in the future; therefore, people are always affected by these natural disasters. Hence, evacuation planning after natural disasters (e.g., earthquakes, floods, tsunamis, fire, storms, warfare and nuclear explosions) is vital. Given that natural disasters cause irreparable financial loss and the loss of life ...

Recently, urbanization has been expanded rapidly in the world and a number of metropolitan areas have been appeared with a population of more than 10 million people. Because of dense population in metropolitan and consequently increasing the delivery of goods and services, there has been a lot of problems including traffic congestion, air pollution, accidents and high energy consumption. This m...
